Project 1 - Narrative Photoshoot
For this assignment, we had to take a series of five images and tell some sort of story with them. I found these rock-bird things at a garage sale and I love them, so I decided to make them the subject of my shoot. I wanted to tell a simple story about noticing the small things and how overlooking them can make your outlook much more bleak, hence the de-saturation as the viewer backs away.
Project 2 - Sound System
The second project was actually this website, but for consistency I changed the order. For this assignment, we had to tell a story using sounds for about 2-3 minutes, and had to create a visual component to represent these sounds. When we were recording sounds just to learn how to do so, me and another classmate got a lot of good ones from different classrooms. I really liked them, so I decided to use them here and record some new ones. I wanted to create the feel of walking through a forest where every animal is some sort of machine, and tried to make the image feel as unreal as possible.
Project 3 - Stop-Motion Animation
This one took a LOT to make, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. A lot of my original plans for this, such as using magnets to connect the cat's joints, did not end up happening, but I'm glad I was able to get this much animation done and score it. I also really like the background I built, even if it is obscured by the fish bowl.
Project 4 - Into the Unknown Video
For this project, we had to make a 3-5 minute video with the basic theme being discovering the unknown. I wanted to do mine as loosely as possible, and wanted it to be about the debate over whether art can be "objectively good." I went for a mostly comedic tone because I had a lot of fun with gathering this footage with my friend. I didn't wanna just strawman anyone or anything, but I wanted to play around a bit with the stress of finals and everything, and I really like some of the shots here.
